The 4th annual Toward Proficiency classroom library grant is here! This year again, I will be providing a book grant ($300) for a World Language teacher to develop their inclusive classroom library. This is just one of the many ways I enjoy giving back to my World Language community and celebrate reading.
In order to apply for this grant, you must:
- 🌎 be a World Language teacher in North America
- 📝 complete this application by April 27, 2025
- 📚 commit to following the book selection guidelines outlined in this post. Please review before applying. Please note: I do not support purchasing from TPRS Books.
- 🤝🏽 collaborate with me to create an inclusive book wish list that thoughtfully represent identities and communities
- 📸 send me a picture of your library once it is set up
Here are the criteria I use to select the grant recipient:
- 👥 number of students impacted
- 💰access to funding
- ❤️📚thoughtful representation of identities and communities in bookshelves
Results will be announced by or on May 11, 2025.
Please send this to anyone who needs to see it. Comment below or contact me if you have any questions. I can’t wait to support you!

“Thanks to the grant I received from Cécile, I was able to create a classroom library filled with French books suited to all levels. This library has transformed the way my high school students approach reading: they now read with confidence and for enjoyment, rather than just for grades. The books offered cover a wide range of levels and inclusive topics, allowing each student to feel represented and engaged. Reading is now part of our classroom routine, helping my students build positive and lasting habits. Thank you so much Cécile for supporting my school – its impact is real and powerful!”
