Embedding Social Justice standards in our World Language curriculum and practices

On this week’s podcast episode of The World Language Classroom, I had the opportunity to share some actionable ideas on how to embed the Social Justice standards framework from learningforjustice.org into our WL curriculum and practices, with a specific focus on Novice Learners.

These reflections are the results of working with the framework itself, lots of reading, listening, and trials and errors, as well as the brilliant concepts and resources shared by insightful educators who are further along on their journey, some of whom I credit in the episode.

As a follow-up, I am also sharing the power standards my WL department chose to embed in our curriculum. The journey is far from over but aligning what we are about and committing to where we want to focus our efforts as a department was a really important milestone. I am fortunate to work at a school that encourages this kind of deep thinking and curricular action.

I hope you find the episode and the resources I share during the episode helpful. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments.
